Heaven River in Ningwu : The Beautiful Picture

Heaven River in Ningwu, one of the three heaven rivers in China. Heaven River was a tourist attraction during as far back as the Warring States Period, about 2,300 years ago. It officially became a royal tourist destination in the Northern Wei Dynasty. During the Sui and Tang Dynasties, the popularity of Heaven River tour reached the peak stage. Emperor Yang of Sui Dynasty built the vast Fenyang Palace encompassing it, and traces can be found to the south. In the fifth year of Zhenyuan of Tang Dynasty, a royal official responsible for animal husbandry was set up around here. Every year, 700,000 horses were grazed here, so it is also known as “A Sea of Horses”.
