Pingyao Drama Hall is located at the Nine-Dragon Screen of Ancient City of Pingyao with a Confucious’ temple and a mammon temple on the west, Kuixing Building on the south, and the ancient city wall on the east. As a high-grade performance venue, it enjoys equal popularity with Moulin Rouge in France. Originally named “Liyue Hall”, it was built in the 42nd year of Kangxi era in the Qing Dynasty (In 1703). Historically, the Hall was a famed place hosting dramas and dancing where officials entertained guests and merchants enjoyed leisure. Qigong, the grand master, wrote the name of Pingyao Drama Hall. The area of the Hall consists of the Nine-Dragon Screen, the Opera Gallery, the classical closed performing hall, the bar scene, and Dongnanhai Hotel, among which the Nine-Dragon Screen and the Hall boast historical richness. The Hall is a comprehensive performance venue integrating the North School banquet dance display, traditional repertoire performance, famous and quality snacks tasting, modern facilities for recreation, and cultural and artistic exchanges. It features high-grade entertainment and performance and high-level conference reception. The characteristic program in the Hall is Shanxi Merchants’ Accents.
