Qingxu Taoist Temple, the largest Taoist Temple in the ancient city, is located on the north of the eastern section of East Avenue. It was built in the second year of Xianqing era in the Tang Dynasty (In 657), and renamed as Qingxu Taoist Temple in the first year of Zhiping era in the Song Dynasty (In 1064) from its former name of Taiping Taoist Temple. At the beginning of the Yuan Dynasty, its name was changed as Taipingxingguo Taoist Temple, then as Taipingchongsheng Temple. In the Qing Dynasty, its name of Qingxu Taoist Temple was restored. The vicissitudes of history, changes in the world, and the passing of time have left few Taoist idols here. Qingxu Taoist Temple was transformed into Pingyao County Comprehensive Museum in 1998.
