In order to inherit and carry forward Chinese traditional art and intangible cultural heritage, the District Culture Center, the District Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center and the District Library jointly held the Second Traditional Art and Intangible Cultural Heritage Activity in Yuci District in mid-October. The theme of this activity is “inheritance and sharing”, including lectures, training, field visits, three categories, and a total of 8 projects. More than 200 cultural workers from various towns, streets and Shizhao Social Management Center participated in the activities.

There were three projects in the lecture category, namely: Zen Incense Lecture, specially invited Qian Songtao, the fifth inheritor of the ancient art of “Zen Incense”, to introduce in detail the long history of Chinese incense culture, the types and applications of incense, the efficacy and fragrance of incense; And how to appreciate and comprehend the charm of incense in the interaction of smelling and knowing incense. Feng's Bone-setting Technique Lecture, taught by Feng Xiaopan, the eighth generation successor of “Feng's Bone-setting Technique”, which is an unique theoretical system and a complete set of therapeutic principles and methods based on the unique techniques of traditional Chinese medicine, and the application of bone-setting technique in daily life was demonstrated. The lecture on traditional etiquette culture was taught by Wang Jinping, a National Senior Traditional Etiquette Trainer, National Etiquette Evaluator and Associate Professor of Jinzhong Vocational & Technical College, to comprehend the unique charm of etiquette culture.

In the category of training, You Wenxiu, a teacher from Shangcha Floral Studio and a Professor from Taiwan Chinese Floral Arts Foundation, were invited to give a lecture on Chinese ikebana; Feng Shusheng, the representative inheritor of the municipal intangible cultural heritage project “Feng's Dough Art” in Jinzhong City, gave the training of the dough modeling art; Shi Yang, Senior Arts and Crafts Master, Provincial Arts and Crafts Master, inheritor of municipal intangible cultural heritage project gave a training on Shi Yang Paper Cutting; The fifth generation inheritor of steamed twisted roll in Yuci, Li Gaiyan, gave a training on simple production of steamed twisted roll (a kind of bun). Under the explanation and demonstration of the teachers, Participants made ikebana, dough modelling, paper cuttings and steamed twisted roll. In the process of learning and interacting with teachers, the Participants could feel the exquisite skills of traditional culture and the charm of Chinese culture.

At the end of the activity, the Participants visited the Kitchen God (a God in Chinese culture) Culture and the Baijiu Zuting Folk Custom Museum to better understand the Kitchen God Culture and the Fen Jiu (a kind of alcohol) Culture of Shanxi Merchants, from which we could draw rich traditional culture nutrition.
