North China's Shanxi province has ranked 7th in the country in terms of its storage capacity, according to this year's "China's Comprehensive Computational Power Index" released at the 2023 China Computational Power Conference.

The report evaluates the comprehensive development of this industry in provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China from four dimensions: computational power, storage capacity, operational capacity, and the operating environment, based on 32 indicators.

There is increasing demand for storage as big data continues to grow in popularity, with advanced storage becoming an important direction for companies' development.

By the end of June 2023, China's total storage capacity reached 1,080 exabytes, with a growth rate of 23 percent. The storage capacity has maintained a high growth rate, with advanced storage technologies such as all-flash storage accounting for more than 25 percent of the total in certain industries.

The report shows that provinces with good development in this area are leading in terms of both storage scale and performance nationwide.

In recent years, Shanxi has regarded the development of the digital economy as an important engine for accelerating its transformation and development. Up to now, the province has built 84,000 5G base stations, continuously improving the quality of its 5G network services.

In the future, Shanxi will accelerate the construction of network infrastructure such as 5G base stations and high-bandwidth access networks, as well as the development of storage facilities such as solid-state drives.
