Shanxi releases plan to develop special steel materials industry

Shanxi province aims to generate over 140 billion yuan ($19.45 billion) in business revenue through its special steel materials industry this year. This is according to an annual plan that was recently released by the Shanxi Department of Industry and Information Technology. 

The province will focus on attracting enterprises in the new energy sector to settle in Taiyuan's Zhongbei High-tech Industrial Development Zone and the Shanxi Transformation and Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone. This will include enterprises related to new energy-driven smart manufacturing and the processing and manufacturing of new energy equipment components. 

In the field of photovoltaic support, the development of super weather-resistant steel will be emphasized. It will also strive to attract photovoltaic companies to establish factories in the Wenxi Economic and Technological Fine Steel Industrial Park. 

The plan also dictates that Shanxi will develop a wire mesh industrial cluster this year. 

In the areas of prefabricated construction and metal products, efforts will be made to attract investment in prefabricated construction enterprises and downstream enterprises in metal product deep processing. This will be done by combining the construction of a "zero-carbon" industrial park for fine steel deep processing. 

Focusing on the foundation of Shanxi's special steel industry, the province plans to prioritize the development of small-batch, multi-variety key steel materials such as oriented silicon steel, nickel-based alloys, super large H-section steel, and high-end fastener steels. These products will enhance the industry's added value and better meet market demand. 

Furthermore, it will take measures to enhance the competitiveness of the industry chain, promote technological innovation, improve the financial support system, and provide intellectual support.
