Shanxi launches smart computing platform for coal industry

The Shanxi Coal Industry Internet Smart Computing Platform, jointly developed by China Unicom and Shanxi Jinyun Internet Technology Co, recently entered trial phase operation.

Located in the Shanxi Unicom Big Data Center, this platform is currently the only vertical industry-type smart computing center in Shanxi province and the first exclusive energy smart computing center for the coal industry in the country.

This platform is one of the province's key projects for 2024. It utilizes artificial intelligence computing power and mining scene data to attract participation from intelligent industry chain enterprises, and promote the adaptation of artificial intelligence technology with mining application systems. It will also enhance the intelligence level of coal mines, establish an open and transparent pricing mechanism to reduce construction costs, and drive the digital transformation of the coal industry.

The smart computing center that supports this platform is a collection of computing, network, and storage resources that support the application mall for coal industry internet, mining AI large models, and operation support platforms.

This center serves as the cloud infrastructure for the entire platform and represents the latest exploration in creating new productive forces for Shanxi Unicom. As a solid technological foundation for the Shanxi Coal Industry Internet Smart Computing Platform, the smart computing center will provide computing, storage, network, security, and technical support for application malls and operation support platforms.

It is expected that by 2030, the total computing power of the smart computing center will exceed 200 PFLOPS, providing intelligent services for at least 300 coal mines in the province and offering strong computing support for over 2,000 algorithms at the mining end.
