The malleable cast iron industry is the pillar industry in Taigu County, which started in the 1970s. After more than 40 years of ups and downs, the industry has gradually grown larger and stronger, with the outstanding reputation of "The world's malleable cast iron is from China and China's malleable cast iron is from Taigu". Through over 50 years of development, the malleable cast iron industry in Taigu has transformed from the production of the initial five categories including malleable cast iron pipe fittings, trench fittings, electric power fittings, hardware castings, and manhole cover grates into three new categories including exercise equipment, fire protection equipment and valves, and keeps expanding to new areas such as the cast magnesium and cast aluminum in aviation, stainless steel welding parts in nuclear power facilities, cast steel and cast iron parts in automobiles and high-speed rails, forming the high-end industrial matrix of “5 + 3 + N".

In terms of market share, the malleable cast iron pipe fittings account for more than two-thirds of the domestic market, and electric power fittings account for four-fifths of the domestic market, with more than 3,000 distribution outlets in cities at and above the prefectural and municipal levels. The products are sold in over 40 countries in Europe, America, Middle East and Southeast Asia with an annual export volume of 50,000 tons. It has been awarded by the China Foundry Association, China National Hardware Association, and China Chamber of Commerce of Metals, Minerals & Chemicals Importers & Exporters as the "China Malleable Cast Iron Casting Industry Base", "China Malleable Cast Iron Industry Base" and "China Malleable Cast Iron Foreign Trade Incubation Base", respectively.
