Situated in Guoyu village of Beiliu town in Yangcheng county, the Guoyu Ancient Castle is a castle built at the foot of Taihang Mountain early Tang Dynasty. The castle near the mountain and by the water has magnificent and spectacular walls and widespread battlements on the top of the castle wall. In the castle, there are high buildings, strict ancient temples, luxurious residence for officials and elegant folk houses, and it is an ancient building with the unique characteristics of Chinese villages. It is a typical castle-like village which covers an area of 179,000 m2 has 1100 rooms and 40 courtyards of existing Ming folk houses, including old lion courtyards, small lion courtyards, 12 Wang’s houses, 13 Wang’s courtyards, etc. The existing ancient castle has the wall of 12m high, 5m wide and 1400m long, as well as complete gate tower, battlement, gate and water gate. Three layers of 628 foxholes having the functions of residence and defense were excavated on the castle wall. The ancient paths in the castle were paved with stone bars, and the winding paths lead to quite places. The Ming fold houses as high as two-floor buildings are erecting on both sides of the paths.
